Project description:
Pupils will identify problems caused by diversities and look for ways how to make the best of it. We will organize a topical day, organized by each school to get students acquainted with the project. Then students from different countries will work jointly on an international “diversity textbook” which will inform about diversity through presentations or videos etc, worksheets and activities for pupils. In all parts of the project students will be involved. They will also be the first learners. Finally we will organize a one-week meeting; participants will work on the textbook. We will meet in Bulgaria and then go to Croatia.
Project idea:
The main aim is to show that diversity has positive aspects. Pupils will write an international textbook about diversity and the major problems connected with it. In all parts of the process of creating this textbook, pupils will be involved. They will think about problems globally and learn that different does not mean bad. Units will have ice breakers, introduction of the problem through presentation or a short video etc. Activities will be going from visible to inner problems, from discussions about the introductory part to the pupils´ problems. While collecting information for the project activities, pupils will communicate with other members of their family, community and local authorities and thus make them indirect participants. After creating lessons, pupils will try them out and then learn through teaching and counselling others. Activities will help all participants to identify problems and help them to understand them. They will become aware of their own identity, different cultures, values and diversities around them. We will focus on situations which are part of pupils´ everyday life and groups they belong to such as family, school, minorities, and discriminated groups in their community. Pupils from different countries will cooperate and work together on each topic. The project will develop their understanding of diversity and increase their self-confidence, communicative and social skills, and ability to work in a team and build new friendships.
Results and outcomes:

Project implementation:
We plan 3 visits to each country and use the Internet (emails, Skype, Facebook, Teamup, websites etc.) for communicating and sharing finished parts of our “diversity textbook”. At the beginning, we plan project meeting in Croatia. The pupils get to know and will plan group work and the topics they would like to work on. Then schools will organise a topical day to introduce the project and ACES values to the community and start project work either individually on chosen topics or jointly on another topics. In January we plan another meeting in the Czech Republic to check what has been done and plan how to continue. Then we will focus on finalizing the project and implementing it – we will use the textbook in other classes. At the last meeting in Bulgaria will work on our presentation for Aces Academy. In the project we will use the tools of project pedagogy, iTec methodology for project work, IT tools for presentations in subjects as Civics, English and IT. We will invite guests and organise excursions. Organizing topical days, presenting project and project work will be the responsibility of the teachers and pupils of each partner schools. Project visits will be planned together and organized by hosting schools. The English project websites will be set by the coordinating school and the other schools will delegate one teacher who will have also the administrator rights and will be responsible for placing outcomes on web. The final outcome of this project will be a “diversity textbook” where one third of work should be done by each school, project teachers will be responsible for finishing tasks in time. Organizing excursions and inviting guests will depend on each school. The working language will be English, Russian, Italian as schools teach those languages.
