Ostrava Meeting - Monday - History
OSTRAVA MEETING - DAY 1: Monday 3rd August 2023
On Monday morning all teams from four countries (Finland, France, Greece and Portugal) arrived to our school. After school tour the 19 participants could attend classes and present their country and take part in the activities. Portugal team helped pupils from class 4.A with their project about lavenders, Finnish team observed bilingual Math lesson in class 7.D and French team was in class 3.D.
After break all teams, pupils from Year 2, from class 5.B, 8.D, 9.B, school choir and folklore club met in the gym where this project meeting was oficially opened. After welcome speaches and introduction of project goals, the choir and folklore programme, the participants took part in ice-breaking activities. They also learnt traditional Czech dance called Mazurek with class 8.D.
In the afternoon participants went to the city centre and visited the Ostrava Town Hall. They met the city representatives and informed them about the aims of our project which focusses on sustainable development and possible solutions. Meeting in Ostrava was planned as introduction of problems caused by mining and heavy industry to the environment. Next the participants went to the city centre and learnt more about the history and present of Ostrava.
