CHECKING OUT OCCUPATIONS
Pupils from Ostrava primary school, class 9.B, prepared a lesson about diversity in occupations. They are leaving school this year. So they are thinking about their future career and secondary school they would like to go to next year.
Grade 9 visited exhibition of four vocational schools in the nearby primary school. Pupils could hear about different occupations and watch the displays. They were invited to make something themselves or to try the typical job activity.
Then pupils visited nearby Traffic vocational school which specializes on train control and repairing cars.
In January pupils visited nearby Public catering vocational schools and tried some activities typical for the waiters, barists and conditioners.
Pupils from class 9.B also cooked with our Comenius assistant Elif her favourite dish called Kisir, turkish coffee and tried turkish dessert called Halva.
Students from Sibenik visited history museum and learnt more about the work of an archivist. They prepared a presentation to share what they have learnt.
In the Vocational study subject Czech pupils also decided to study various occupations from the point of gender view and prejudices. They discussed necessary personal qualities and health condition for different jobs, wrote their curriculum vitae and motivation letters, played role-play "Job interview" and charades. Finally, they prepared activities and the worksheet for our Diversity book. Here you can see the first editon of our lesson. We will implement the archivist occupation into the second edition of our Diversity textbook.
